Step-by-Step GPS Tracker Installation
Follow these instructions for a successful install.
- Unbox Your Device: Each tracker includes the GPS device, SIM card (pre-installed), power cable or OBD connector, mounting hardware, and quick start guide.
- Locate the Installation Point: For OBD trackers, find the OBD-II port under the dashboard (driver’s side). For hardwired models, identify a 12V constant power source near the fuse box or battery.
- Connect the Tracker: Plug the OBD tracker directly into the port, or wire the hardwired device using the included harness. Match red to positive, black to ground.
- Verify the LED Indicator: Check that the LED is blinking (searching for signal) or solid (connected). Refer to your model’s quick start guide for specific light patterns.
- Mount Securely: Use the included zip ties, Velcro, or adhesive to secure the device. Ensure it won’t interfere with pedals, moving parts, or airbag deployment zones.
- Start the Vehicle: Turn on the ignition. The device will automatically connect to GPS satellites and the cellular network within 1-3 minutes.
- Confirm in Dashboard: Log in to your GeoTracking.com account. Your vehicle should appear on the map with a live location.

Troubleshooting Common Issues
Quick fixes for typical installation problems.
Device not showing on dashboard
Ensure the vehicle ignition is ON and the device has power. Wait 3-5 minutes for initial satellite connection. Check that you’ve entered the correct serial number during activation. If issues persist, contact support.
LED not lighting up
For OBD trackers, try a different OBD port or check for blown fuses. For hardwired units, verify positive and ground connections with a multimeter. Battery-powered devices may need the power button pressed for 3+ seconds.
Location is inaccurate
GPS accuracy improves outdoors with clear sky view. Initial lock may take 1-3 minutes. If installed under heavy metal (like a truck bed), signal may be blocked—reposition if possible.
Alerts not sending
Verify your notification settings in the dashboard. Check that email addresses and phone numbers are correct. Ensure alert thresholds are properly configured (e.g., speed > 70 mph).
